Travel Marquette the Lasco Development Corporation presented the CBM with a $3,000 check to fund travel and other expenses for the forum.
The three-day forum started with a day of golfing and getting acquainted at the Marquette Golf Club. The special community bankers forum will also take place at the Landmark Inn in Marquette over the next two days. Topics include cannabis banking, cybersecurity and awareness and federal compliance.
Robert Baer, President of Lasco says he’s glad to finally have these guest speakers and attendees all in one place.
"One of the things that we've been challenged with over time is getting events that educate our bankers in the U.P. up to the Upper Peninsula. They’ve had to always travel downstate and we've been very happy to work with the CBM to have this event in the Upper Peninsula. It's been great and we look forward to future years of this,” Baer exclaimed.
Mike Tierney, President CEO of Community Bankers of Michigan shared those sentiments and shared some clues about the shape of the future of banking.
"We are overjoyed to be up here bringing education and training to the U.P. We hope it is the first of many events up here. Because community banks and the customers and businesses they serve are integral parts of the fabric of the whole country,” Tierney concluded.
