CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) - Cherry Creek Elementary School in Chocolay Township had a big party Wednesday night. In addition to their annual Monsters, Mummies and Math event they also celebrated 25 years.
The event included a whole host of Halloween themed math stations designed to show where kids would use math in the real world. School staff say it was quite a busy night.
"Learning is important and we want to celebrate it in many different ways our math event is trying to show kids how math can be fun and we figured what a better place to celebrate 25 years than at a math event where everybody was going to be able to celebrate with us," said Kathryn Weycker, P.E. Teacher at Cherry Creek. "It's a little crazy, but it's crazy fun."
Volunteers from Northern Michigan University sports teams helped out along with the Chocolay Township Police. School officials even opened a time capsule from 1993 as well.
