CHASSELL, Mich. (WLUC) - The community of Chassell is getting ready for the 71st annual Copper Country Strawberry Festival this weekend.

The Crane Berry Farm is busy picking berries to provide for the festival, and the rest of the town is gearing up for the event as well.

The festival is a two-day affair with a variety of events taking place on both days, including a parade, a dance with live music, and the crowning of the Copper Country Strawberry Queen.

"It's a huge event for the Chassell area. It brings in probably 8,000 to 10,000 people, and even the local stores end up benefiting," said Chassell Lions Club Secretary, Dan Crane.

The event is put on by the Chassell Lions Club and the proceeds from the event go to support schools in the area as well as the fire department and first responders.
