MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The Marquette Chamber of Commerce and Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Chamber of Commerce saw huge success with their Be Local, Buy Local campaign.
They saw more than 2,000 people participate in the program, generating more than $500,000 for local businesses. 100 businesses participated throughout the county.
The app lets shoppers log their receipts and then be entered into a drawing for weekly prizes. Through the program, they tracked 8,600 purchases.
“This kind of success really tells me that our community cares about our small businesses. They care about the character that we have and we've got a ton of organizations and businesses like this around the county that really make us who we are,” Marquette Chamber Executive Director Jason Schneider said.
With the success, the chamber is working to expand the Be Local, Buy Local program.
The Marquette Chamber of Commerce has also seen substantial growth in it’s membership this past year.
