Central Michigan University students help raise money for 31 Backpacks
Central Michigan University students held a spaghetti dinner Thursday night in Hancock to raise money for 31 Backpacks.
The dinner was held at the waterfront restaurant in Hancock, and sold out all of its pre-dinner tickets. Guests were able to participate in a 50-50 raffle and a silent auction with various basket prizes.
This is the second year CMU physical therapy students have held the dinner for 31 Backpacks, an organization that helps provide lunches for students whose families can't afford them.
"I've just learned a lot about 31 Backpacks. It's great how much they provide for the community, especially the children. It's really important that we get involved in the community and this is a great way to do it," said Samantha Lovell, the Fundraising Chair for the CMU Physical Therapy Student’s Organization.
Last year the group raised $1000 from the dinner, and this year their goal is to raise over $1500.
