MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Tuesday afternoon the Marquette Regional History Center continued their annual cemetery walking tours. This year they're tying in with Art Week currently underway in Marquette.
With eight stops in the park cemetery, the focus was on different artists who made their mark in Marquette. The tour highlighted painters, musicians, architects and actors. Organizers say the beauty of the area probably helped inspire some artists.
"Our description for this event talked about the beauty, the beauty of this area, of Marquette and the county being an inspiration for artists of all styles and that's what we're talking about today," said Marquette Regional History Center Executive Director, Cris Osier.
There was a second tour Tuesday evening as well. There is a $5 suggested donation to attend. The History Center is also preparing for a walking tour through the city and bus tours all coming in July.
