MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Fifth grade students took over the Marquette Senior High School Tuesday afternoon for a good cause.
The fourth annual 'Camper Chili Cook-Off' was held inside the cafeteria. The friendly competition raised money to send fifth graders to Bay Cliff Health Camp.
Four different chilis were submitted for judging. The winning school gets the traveling trophy for the year--a golden ladle. Organizers say the trip to Bay Cliff leaves the kids with lasting memories.
"I was a fifth grader that went to Bay Cliff and it's one of those things that you always remember going to," said Organizer Kristen Cambensy. "It's the first time that all the fifth grades are together doing some different fun activities then they go off to the middle school so it's kind of a good starting point to lead them into a successful middle school career."
In previous years, the cook off has raised more than $4,000 for the Bay Cliff trip. This year organizers were hoping for their best turnout yet.
