MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Brookridge Heights Assisted Living and Memory Care celebrated the beautiful summer weather Wednesday while raising awareness about Alzheimer's disease. With Croatian-style chicken barbecue from Ron Olson from REO Traveling Grills and raffles, 50-50 drawings and live music the turnout was excellent.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Alzheimer's Association. Staff at Brookridge say this is a cause that's near and dear to the them.
"We see first hand what the battles of Alzheimer's and Dementia can bring, not only to the resident but to their family members, we see it first hand, so be to able to offer that support and help raise awareness for a worthy cause, the goal here ultimately is to find a cure," said Executive Director for Brookridge Heights Assisted Living and Memory Care, Jennifer Huetter.
This is an annual event for Brookridge Heights. Last year they were able to raise about $8,000 for the Alzheimer's Association. They're hoping to top that number this year.
