Body of woman found on beach in Whitefish Township

An investigation is currently underway after the body of a woman was found on the beach Saturday morning in Whitefish Township.

According to the Michigan State Police, the body of 42-year-old Allyson Marie Motylinski-Jenkins of Maybee, Michigan was discovered on the beach around 11:15 a.m. on Saturday near the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum in Whitefish Township of Chippewa County. Motylinski-Jenkins was pronounced dead at the scene.

At this time, cause of death and whether or not foul play was a factor has not been released. A full and complete investigation is currently underway to determine the cause and manner of death by the MSP and the Chippewa County Medical Examiner.

Michigan State Police were assisted at the scene by detectives from the MSP Eighth District Headquarters in Marquette and the Negaunee Post, the MSP Grayling Crime Laboratory, the Michigan DNR, and personnel from Whitefish Township EMS.
