The bodies and boat of Keith Karvonen (61), Steven Chartre (43), and his 9-year-old son Ethan Chartre, the three boaters who went missing on September 17th, have been located in Lake Superior.
According to the Michigan State Police, on Saturday October 1st at around 12:45 p.m., the sunken boat was discovered using sonar by two non-profit/volunteer search and rescue organizations, Bruce's Legacy from Black River Falls, Wisconsin, and Crossman Consulting of Duluth, Minnesota.
Keith Karvonen and Ethan Chartre were located and recovered from Lake Superior. Steven Chartre was also located and additional resources are en route to assist in the efforts to recover him.
Authorities have not yet released where exactly the vessel and bodies were located, or if there's any indication of what could have caused the boat to sink.
The three boaters left for a quick fishing trip from Chassell on September 17th, and were reported missing that night when they didn't arrive at an event.
Bruce's Legacy and Crossman Consulting were assisted by the Houghton County Sheriff's Department, Michigan State Police Calumet Post, Mercy Ambulance, and the Houghton County Medical Examiner.
