Boy Scout Troop 372 holds inaugural Blast Car Races

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Boy Scout Troop 372 had a literal blast Sunday at their Blast Car Race.

Once you become a Boy Scout, you are no longer eligible to participate in the familiar Cub Scout Pinewood Derby. After some research and lot of panning, Troop 372 decided to hold a Blast Car Race similar to the Pinewood Derby, except the cars are bigger and powered with CO2 cartridges.

The race was open to the whole family with more than 20 cars racing in the Boy Scout, the siblings and the adult brackets.

“I think it's really important that we support the boys and what their interests and ideas are and to give them the opportunity to bring an idea to fruition,” said Troop 372 Scout Master, Amy Ahola.

This is the first time the troop held a Blast Car Race.
