A Western Upper Peninsula town gained a bit of national recognition last night on a popular late night show.

On the Wednesday, January 15, episode of "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," Fallon described Bessemer as "Weed Town, U.S.A." during his News Smash segment.

Fallon joked that "an entire town in Michigan smells like weed because so many residents are growing it."

This stems from a recent vote by the Bessemer City Council, said a recent Ironwood Daily Globe

.

In the segment, Fallon also joked, "[Bessemer]'s changing Michigan from the Great Lakes State to the Dank Stank State."
