MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The Beacon House in Marquette held their 906 Day fundraiser last Thursday, raising money for construction of a new hospitality house. Since then, they've received some exciting news.
Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. has pledged to donate $250,000 towards the Beacon House capital campaign. This donation, paired with the $10,000 raised at the 906 Day fundraiser, brings the Beacon House to just under $2 million raised. About $1 million away from their $3 million goal.
Beacon House C.E.O. Mary Dowling says the grant gives them hope for the future.
“There are businesses and organizations that really want to help us. They believe in us, they believe in the cause, and they think it's a worthy cause,” said Mary Dowling, C.E.O. of Hospitality House of the Upper Peninsula. “They certainly did their due diligence to make such a large gift. We're so proud to be able to do what we do and to know that we're going to be able to do that in the future.”
