Beacon House fundraising office now located at the Upper Peninsula Medical Center

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The Beacon House fundraising and administrative team has new office space, thanks to the generosity of the Upper Peninsula Medical Center Shareholders.

The move was necessary due to the anticipated sale of the Beacon House, expected to be finalized in December. The sale is not yet final, but indications look good for the pending transaction. Monday, December 3, 2018 was the staff’s first full day in their new offices, located in Suite 204 just off of the Fair Avenue entrance near the Internal Medicine office.

“It was time for us to move. The potential new buyer of the Beacon House is excited to get in and begin some remodeling right away,” said Mary Tavernini Dowling, CEO of the Hospitality House of the Upper Peninsula. “We are very grateful for the donated offices at Peninsula Medical Center, and appreciate that we’ll be able to put those funds toward the new Steve Mariucci Family Beacon House construction instead of rent.”

During the interim that Beacon House is closed and until the new Steve Mariucci Family Beacon House is open, the organization continues to provide supportive services through their 21-bed hospitality program in the hospital and a newly created network of discounted hotels and area lodging facilities.

The administrative offices at Peninsula Medical Center provide the CEO, finance and marketing team a facility to continue to seek pledges and donations for the Capital Campaign, as well as provide management support for the other entities the charitable organization runs.

The Hospitality House of the Upper Peninsula is a non-profit organization that includes Beacon House, Beacon House Hospitality Rooms in the hospital, the Wig Salon for cancer patients, Hospitality Gifts in the hospital and the two Coffee for a Cause coffee shops in the hospital and at Peninsula Medical Center.

The Capital Campaign office is open to the public and interested parties are encouraged to schedule a time to visit to learn more about the Steve Mariucci Family Beacon House progress and pledging opportunities. To make an appointment with Mary Dowling, CEO, please call 906-225-7100 or email
