BARAGA, Mich. (WLUC) - A Wisconsin man is charged with driving drunk causing death in Baraga County.
Christopher LaBlanc was driving a pickup truck early Saturday morning, June 8, in Baraga. He hit Orlando Moreno, 29, of Baraga, with the truck around 2:30 a.m., killing him.
According to Baraga County Prosecutor Joseph O'Leary, LaBlanc was driving on Superior Avenue when he hit Moreno in the roadway. LaBlanc is charged with Driving While Intoxicated Causing Death.
LaBlanc was released on bond from the Baraga County Jail on Tuesday.
The details leading up to the incident are still under investigation. O'Leary says he’s waiting on autopsy and Michigan State Police reports.
Baraga Village Police is handling the case. They're being assisted by the Michigan State Police and Keweenaw Bay Tribal Police.
LaBlanc has a probable cause hearing in Baraga County District Court on June 25. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 2.
