BARAGA, Mich. (WLUC) - Baraga State Park campground will be undergoing some much needed upgrades this summer.
The state park has closed the north half of the campground while construction crews update the electrical systems and add more pull through sites. Once that is done, the park will be completely open for the Fourth of July, then close the south end to update those sites.
Park officials say this upgrade will improve the quality of sites for those that stay this summer and beyond.
"To have a big upgrade like this at Baraga, which has very old infrastructure and our electrical system was failing, this is a huge improvement for us and very, very exciting," said Park Accounting Assistant, Kelly Somero.
By only closing half of the park at a time, Baraga State Park will be able to say open all season.
