L'ANSE, Mich. (WLUC) - The Baraga County Communities That Care organization is participating in National Prevention Week. It, along with other Communities That Care, are working to spread messages of prevention.
The messages are read in local schools and put on social media, some in the form of memes. They focus on keeping teens from drinking underage, smoking and abusing other substances.
"The more that we are talking the more that the kids are hearing us the more we're getting into their subconscious and their decision making process ahead of time, before they go down a wrong road or wrong path, then we can save everybody a lot of heartache down the road," said Coordinator for Baraga County Communities That Care, Carrie Rich.
Friday's focus for National Prevention Week is preventing suicide. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration is a major organization behind National Prevention Week.
