MUNISNG, Mich. (WLUC) - Ash Wednesday was observed inside and outside the Church.
Three pastors from surrounding county churches offered ashes on the streets of Munising.
The pastors were outside from 12 to 1 pm hoping to provide ashes on the go for those on their lunch break.
Knowing the Ash Wednesday morning and evening services always don’t work with everyone's schedule, the pastors hoped to reach people who otherwise wouldn’t be able to attend.
This is the second year of 'Ashes to Go."
The pastors said taking the hour to stand outside, is worth it as Ash Wednesday begins the Lenten season.
"It's introspective for each of us to come closer to Christ during this time and it's the most holy time of the whole Christian year with Lent and Holy Week," said Sandra Kolder, a Pastor at the Munising and Trenary United Methodist Churches.
The pastors hope to continue 'Ashes to Go' next year.
