UPDATE: April winter storm knocks out power to thousands in Upper Michigan

UPDATE 1 p.m. Friday:

Some areas, especially in eastern Upper Michigan, are still without power Friday afternoon after an April snow and rain storm.

The April winter storm has left thousands in Upper Michigan without power Friday morning, but the numbers started to decrease after daylight hit.

If you have power, take time to make sure you're prepared in case you lose it.

Service providers are posting outage updates on their websites. Here are the outage numbers as of 8:30 a.m.

427 customers in Torch Lake Township are without power. UPPCO says crews are working as quickly as possible to restore service. Another 123 customers in Blaney Park are without power.
