Annual Zonta grant luncheon held

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Some of Marquette’s most empowered women gathered Monday in celebration.

At the Marquette Federate Women’s Club House, the Marquette Zonta Club, along with 15 fortunate grant recipients, met for lunch to commemorate The Zonta’s Club fundraising work within the community.

Thanks to the Zonta Club $7,500 will be going to scholarships and grants for organizations such as Girls on the Run, The Women’s Center, the Marquette Children’s Museum, and many more.

"Our mission at Zonta is to improve and advance the status of women. And part of our consideration is the number served, their need, the project impact, potentially, short term and long term, as well as their effectiveness and track record," said Lucile Contois, Zonta Grant Committee Member.

Members of the Marquette Zonta Club say they're thankful for a supportive community who made it a successful fundraiser.
