MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The annual campaign for the YMCA of Marquette County is nearly at their goal. They were hoping to raise more than $115,000 this year and now YMCA administration are calling the campaign a success.
The campaign helps the Y with offering scholarships back to members of the community who need financial assistance with getting a membership or taking various programs and classes. They're expecting a few more donations to come in soon which should put them right at their goal.
"We are at 99 percent with our annual campaign and hope to be there within the next two weeks," said Aquatics Director for the YMCA of Marquette County, Patrick Markey. "The beauty of it is we've raised $115,000 in scholarships to give back to the community for those who want to take swim lessons or membership assistance."
The YMCA is also planning a big celebration this October. It'll be their 25th anniversary. We'll have more details about that party when they become available.
