MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Marquette Breakfast Rotary has been planning for an entire year for the club’s major fundraiser, the Land and Sea Benefit Dinner & Auction, commonly called the “Fish Boil."
The 27th annual Fish Boil will be held this Saturday, June 15, beginning at 5 p.m. at the Lake Superior Theatre Yacht Yard in Marquette.
The Fish Boil consists of a traditional fish boil dinner, cocktails and a live and silent auction. Dancing will follow dinner with music provided by Double Trouble Entertainment.
Proceeds from the event which consist of ticket sales, sponsors, donations and auction proceeds, are directed back into the community to worthy programs, organizations and projects that support local youth.
Since 1992, proceeds from the Fish Boil total over $450,000 which has been directed back into the community to numerous organizations throughout Marquette County.
Sponsors for the 2019 Fish Boil include UP Health System - Marquette, Upper Peninsula Health Plan, TV6 & FOX UP, Embers Credit Union, Simply Superior, Flagstar Bank, Flourish Financial Partners, River Valley Bank/Incredible Bank, Cleveland Cliffs, Snyder Drug, Edward Jones, Anderson Tackman, Rainy Creek Construction, Mark Aho Financial, Midway Rental and Sales, Cheryl Kaye, Fran and Steve Finley, Bob and Suzanne Stephenson, and Superior Designs.
More than 100 auction items will be on display for guests to bid on including unique, one-of-a-kind excursions, dinners and trips, a Journey kayak, dining, lodging and sports memorabilia.
“Marquette Breakfast Rotary has a strong commitment to the many programs and organizations that support youth,” said Scott Knaffla, Marquette Breakfast Rotary Club President. “Funds raised during the Fish Boil support our yearly grant cycle which allows us to make significant donations in our community. Last year we raised $49,500 and we are looking to exceed that amount this year.” We encourage everyone to come out and support the mission of Rotary and our community.”
