MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Ampersand Coworking had their official grand opening Tuesday in Marquette. The space in the Masonic Square has been under construction for more than four months, but Tuesday the space was ready for business.
A number of companies have already set up inside the 5,200 square foot space. The majority of private offices are already rented out and most of the private desks are currently occupied.
"Coworking is the fastest growing type of commercial real estate in the entire world," said Jason Schneider, from the Marquette Chamber of Commerce. "Our data says there are more than 600 people working in Marquette County independently, remotely."
"Between being able to provide a space for them and providing a workspace that our regular brick and mortar members can use is building on the strengths of what Chambers have always done well, which is networking and cost sharing but it's also pulling us into the next century," Schneider added.
There are nine private offices, fifteen semi-private desks, and twenty-five open workstations in Ampersand. They're available to rent by the day, week, month or year.
