One brewing company had such a busy holiday weekend, it ran out of beer.
Selling out is a good problem to have, especially for a newer business in a tiny circular town, but Alpha Michigan Brewing Company had to spend Monday and Tuesday replenishing its supply.
"We're brewing beer, we're transferring beer, and we're getting ready to put more beer on tap,” said Alpha Michigan Brewing Company Co-owner and Brewer, Stewart Creel.
Brewing is a multi-step process that includes boiling water, adding specialty grains and malt, cooling, adding yeast and fermenting. The process can take anywhere from 12 days to 3 weeks.
Once they are done, a new beer is on tap.
Alpha Michigan Brewing Company is currently working on a new brewing system which would triple its capacity.
"Hopefully this is a one-off event. As we get the new system online, and get larger volumes of beer brewed, we'll be able to keep things on much longer in time,” said Creel.
The new system should be up and running soon.
Alpha Michigan Brewing Company has been in business since last May.
"The support we're getting from people across the area, and northern Wisconsin is just tremendous,” said Alpha Michigan Brewing Company Co-owner and Brewer, Mike Bjork.
In the future, the company will be adding a new beer garden, renovating the parking lot and adding an outside seating area.
It plans to continue to participate in many community events.
Alpha Michigan Brewing Company will be back open with fresh brewed beer, Wednesday, July 10, at 3:00 p.m.
