ATV rolls, strikes tree, and injures 2 in Dickinson County

NORWAY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) - Troopers from the Michigan State Police Iron Mountain Post responded to a single ATV crash Saturday evening, after the ATV rolled and hit a tree.

Two men, ages 26 and 29, were traveling north on Carney Lake Road near the Carney Lake Campground, when their ATV lost control, ran off the road, struck a tree, and continued rolling.

Both occupants were ejected. The driver was airlifted to UP Health System – Marquette and the passenger was transported to Dickinson Memorial Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and later released.

Alcohol, speed, and no use of seatbelts were factors in the crash, but it still remains under investigation.

Troopers at the scene we assisted by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, North Alert Ambulance Service, Integrity Care EMS, Norway Township Fire Department, Breiting Township Fire Department, and Valley Med Flight.
