MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - A ribbon cutting ceremony and dedication for a new art exhibit were held at Marquette Senior High School on Monday.
'A Solider's Heart' is a collection of paintings and portraits paying tribute to Vietnam War veterans created by local veteran Steve Wahlstrom.
The art, donated by Wahlstrom, will be on display at the Fredeen Gallery in Marquette Senior High School.
"The two walls are kind of very distinctive, the one is the emotions that sometimes were dealt with by these veterans and the other ones are portraits which [are] paying tribute to the veterans that he personally lived with and worked with and fought with in Vietnam," says Robert Mercure, a former educator and docent at Marquette Regional History Center.
Mercure helped to coordinate the project and make it happen.
The gallery is open to the public after school hours.
