MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - This weekend Marquette Senior High School students will perform “The Music Man” at Kaufman Auditorium.
The MSHS Fine Arts Department has been working diligently on their latest production since September.
Megan Ludwig, who plays Mary the librarian, said, “'The Music Man' is about a traveling salesman named Harold, who is a con man, and he's coming to try and sell band instruments to the people in Iowa."’
Lead actor Sam Billman plays the fast-talking, misunderstood character Harold Hill.
"He tries to make money because that's what he thinks he wants but that's not really what he wants,” said Billman. "He really wants love."
Harold gets his heart stolen by the town librarian while trying to con the people of River City, Iowa.
“They end up falling in love and the end is about their love story,” said Ludwig. “It's a really beautiful and classic tale."
Bring the whole family to see themes of love, family and sense of community evolve on stage at the Kaufman Auditorium. Don't miss out on the charming characters, memorable music and toe-tapping dance numbers that make the music man a classic.
Performances are at 7:00 p.m.Thursday through Saturday nights at Kaufman Auditorium. Tickets are available at all NMU ticket outlets.
