MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The group, "40 Below Marquette County Young Professionals" unveiled its new name Tuesday evening. It’s now called “Connect Marquette.”
This organization helps link up young professionals with the local business community.
The group decided to change their name because they felt the former name was associated too much with age.
Vice President Daniel Croney says they believe this new identity is more inclusive.
"We want to be able to offer our members volunteer opportunities, networking opportunities, opportunities where they can feel like they are growing their professional careers through multiple different facets,” said Croney. “So that's who we want to be and we felt the new name helped with that, help people self-identify with where they want to be and who they want to be a part of."
The change was made after careful review, surveys, focus groups and discussions among former and current members.
“Connect Marquette” will be at the UP200 merchandise table this Friday to connect with potential new members.
