MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Over 300 people broke out their tuxedos and gowns for the 5th annual Superior Health Foundation Gala on Saturday night. The annual gala is the biggest event and fundraiser that the Foundation puts on each year.

The event featured raffles, gift boxes, and food and drink. For live entertainment, the Steve Somers Band traveled all the way from Ypsilanti downstate, to perform.

Each year the foundation picks two non-profits who are awarded $10,000 in funding at the gala. This year, Lake State Industries of Marquette and Escanaba, and Great Start Collaborative of Marquette-Alger counties were honored.

"Each year we like to pick two health-centered non-profits that align with our mission, are helping people, and are improving health care across the Upper Peninsula," said Jim LaJoie, the Executive Director of Superior Health Foundation. "We feel we could't have picked two better non-profits to work with."

Superior Health Foundation was hoping around $70,000 by the end of the gala Saturday night..
