2019 Kids Count Data Book shows increase in UP child abuse and neglect

LANSING, Mich. (WLUC) - Upper Michigan continues to see an alarming increase in child abuse and neglect, with confirmed cases up 29 percent since 2012, according to the 2019 Kids Count in Michigan Data Book the Michigan League for Public Policy released Tuesday.

The study also shows a 16 percent increase from 2012 in babies who get less than adequate prenatal care.

The data also says 73 percent of Upper Michigan toddlers are fully immunized.
