Tri-Dent in Chippewa County is investigating ongoing meth labs in the area.

According to the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, Tri-Dent conducted multiple search warrants on February 1 in reference to a meth lab investigation.

The main suspect in the investigation, Joseph David Beairl was out of jail after posting a substantial cash bond from a previous meth lab arrest by Tri-Dent in June 2018.

During this month’s investigation, evidence was collected linking Beairl and Sean James Hauxwell and several others to meth labs in the Sault Ste. Marie area all occurring in a school zone back in June.

A traffic stop was conducted on February 1 with both Beairl and Hauxwell inside the vehicle. A search warrant was then conducted inside the vehicle and at a motel in Sault Ste. Marie where Beairl was staying.

Evidence was found of manufacturing multiple meth labs and suspected meth was seized during the search warrants.

Both men were arrested and lodged in Chippewa County Correctional Facility.

Beairl was part of a June 2018 meth lab investigation. In mid-June, multiple search warrants involving meth labs in the Kinross area were executed. Tri-Dent detectives spend several months furthering their investigation attempting to locate and interview everyone who was involved in these meth labs.

The following people were arrested and charged for the meth labs:

Joseph David Beairl
James Russell McCoy
Travis Michael Bowerman
Sara Margaret Bowerman
Jay Allen Tazelaar
Aaron Jay Endresen
Chelsie Catherine Dukes
Michael Frances Badger
Augusta Marie Vanvolkenburg
Chenoa Lynn Burr
Harley Marie Fournier
Jessica Nicole Richards
Dillon Michael Aikens
Christopher James Crusoe
Cheyenne Sky Bowen
Robert Michael Cooper

At least three more arrests are expected as a result of the June 2018 investigation by Tri-Dent.

Several more arrests are expected in relation to the February meth lab investigation.

Sault Ste. Marie Fire/EMS, Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, Sault Ste. Marie Police Department and the MSP Meth Response Team assisted in the search warrants.
