2 charged for Marquette graffiti

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - UPDATE: Tekhla Edwards, 21 is being charged with four counts of malicious destruction of property $1,000 but less than $20,000, one count of malicious destruction of a building $200 but less than $1,000, and seven counts of malicious destruction of property less than $200.

Edwards is out on bond and is set for an arraignment on April 29.

25-year-old Josue Paredes of Marquette is charged with four counts of malicious destruction of property $1,000 but less than $20,000, one count of malicious destruction of a building $200 but less than $1,000, and six counts of malicious destruction of property of less than $200.

He pleaded not guilty to all his charges and a preliminary exam is set for May 7.

Marquette police arrested two people in connection to graffiti popping up in the City of Marquette.

Police say they arrested 21-year-old Tekhla Edwards of Marquette and 25-year-old Josue Paredes of Marquette on several warrants from the Marquette County Prosecutor's Office.

In late February, Marquette detectives said they had noticed graffiti popping up on businesses, street signs, power boxes and more locations.

Edwards is charged with four felony counts of malicious destruction of personal property, two misdemeanor counts of malicious destruction of a building and six misdemeanor counts of malicious destruction of personal property.

Paredes is charged with four felony counts of malicious destruction of personal property, two counts of misdemeanor malicious destruction to a building and five counts of misdemeanor malicious destruction of property.

Both were lodged in the Marquette County Jail. Bond for Edwards was set at 10 percent of $30,000, and bond for Paredes was set at 10 percent of $27,500.
