10 Marquette property owners awarded façade grants
The Marquette Downtown Development Authority announced Friday afternoon the award of $323,000 in Downtown Façade Improvement Grant to ten property owners throughout the downtown district.
The MDDA says the purpose of the grant program is to assist property owners in making impactful improvements to their exterior building façade. The MDDA received one-time grant funding in the amount of $300,000 through the Michigan Economic Development Corporation's Façade Restoration Initiative pilot program.
The following properties have been awarded Downtown Façade Improvement Grants:
Be Kind LLC: 601/603 N. Third St.
Breakers Roadhouse: 149 W. Baraga Ave.
Great Northern Title & Abstract, Inc.: 155 W. Baraga Ave.
Pemble Properties LLC: 329 W. Washington St.
The Preserve: 351 W. Washington St.
Superior Hearing Aid Center, Inc.: 515 W. Washington St.
Symbios LLC: 1209 N. Third St.
Third Base Bar: 726 N. Third St.
Third Street Bagel: 429 N. Third St.
Veridea Group LLC: 153 W. Washington St.
Marquette was one of three Michigan communities, selected from a pool of 52 applicants, to receive this grant funding. The grant award has allowed the MDDA to expand its local Downtown Façade Improvement Grant Program to fund this collection of projects that will significantly impact the economic growth and revitalization of the downtown district.
A total of twenty-six applications were received, representing nearly $700,000 in grant requests. Grants were scored competitively based on seventeen different factors including the scope and impact of the project. Selected projects are distributed throughout Downtown and Third Street, promoting pockets of rehabilitation which will enhance and renew their respective neighborhoods.
