ESCANABA, Mich. (WLUC) - School’s out for summer for the Escanaba Public School District, but school’s out forever for two of Escanaba Upper Elementary School’s longtime teachers.

Thursday was both Susan Gannon's and Karin Beveridge’s last day teaching. They are retiring after collectively teaching nearly 80 years.
Each teacher has taught around 1,000 students throughout their career.

Students and faculty shared hugs and tears with these two educators who have touched so many people's lives.

Both women are grateful for their experiences.

“All the principals that I’ve worked with, the staff that I’ve worked with has been phenomenal,” said Beveridge. “And I will hold those near and dear to my heart. It’s been a really fantastic ride.”

Both Gannon and Beveridge are looking forward to traveling, spending time with family and being on their own time.

According to Escanaba Upper Elementary School, they will be greatly missed and not forgotten.
