HOUGHTON, Mich. (WLUC) - Community members came together Thursday evening to discuss possible changes to the area through a revitalization meeting.
Houghton/Keweenaw Communities that Care (CTC) hosted the meeting in Houghton to talk about ways to create safe and healthy places for kids and teens, to get community members involved and to set goals for the year.
It also provided information for people interested in joining the organization.
Event leaders believe creating a better community environment starts with its residents.
"The community members are our key people. We really need them to stick behind their children. It's their children and the community members are the kids. So having them grow up to be safe, healthy, happy adults and raise safe, healthy, happy children, is really the goal here,” said Houghton/Keweenaw Communities that Care Coordinator, Heather Saari.
Communities that Care has multiple events planned throughout the year and encourages people to join.
