MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced Monday that a new attorney general office will be opening on Northern Michigan University's campus--the only one in the Upper Peninsula.
The announcement came during the Elder Abuse Task Force conference held at NMU.
The office will serve as a place for people to file complaints for the Attorney General and present questions.
Attorney General Nessel hopes that this will help Upper Peninsula residents feel less alienated from their state government.
"That was something that was very important to me, to make certain that residents in the Upper Peninsula felt as though they had their voices heard and that they had state electives that cared about what was happening up here. And no better way to do that than to actually have an office located right here in the Upper Peninsula,” said Nessel.
Attorney General Nessel hopes the office will be open within the next month.
