Matt joins Western Mass News from our sister station, WLUC-TV in Marquette, MI, where he served as a Multimedia Journalist and was recognized for outstanding breaking news coverage by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters.
He is an honors graduate of the Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Media.
Born and raised in New York, Matt began his broadcast career in high school, when he joined the media production unit of the New York Boulders minor league baseball team as an intern in technical operations. He also did stints as a play-by-play announcer and color commentator for the team.
While in college, Matt produced and co-hosted a weekly sports talk show, and covered many of the Ithaca College teams as an anchor, reporter and commentator for the school’s WICB-FM and VICRadio.com as well as the school’s student-run television station ICTV. He also interned at WPIE Radio/ESPN Ithaca, where he served as a social media reporter; and interned in online production at the NBC Sports Group in Stamford, CT.
Matt is passionate about sports, but he is enthusiastically curious about all things Pioneer Valley. He is excited to meet and report on the people and institutions that make greater Springfield the special place it is.
