ISHPEMING TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) - UPDATE: Aug. 11. 2022 8:30 a.m.:

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Negaunee Post have identified the man who died in a fire at 185 Silver Street early Monday morning.

Police say 70-year-old Roger McCoy was found dead inside the home. He was the owner of the residence.

No foul play is suspected.

The Michigan State Police Fire Marshal also investigated the scene. Troopers were assisted by the Ishpeming Township Fire Department.

One person was found dead following a structure fire at 185 Silver Street early Monday morning.

Ishpeming Township Fire Department responded to a fully engulfed structure fire at 3:26 a.m. The department said firefighters were able to get the flames under control quickly.

An individual was found dead in the rear of the home. The Michigan state police fire investigator was called to the scene and the fire is under investigation. No other details are available at this time.

Assisting at the scene was the Ishpeming Township Fire Dept, Ishpeming City Fire Dept, Marquette County Rescue 131, Bell EMS, and the Michigan State Police.

Around 4:00 a.m. Monday, emergency crews were called to Silver Street in Ishpeming for a house fire. The house was fully engulfed in flames.

At this time there is no word on if there are any injuries, or how the fire started.
