UPDATE: Fatal motorcycle crash causes Mackinac Bridge traffic

MACKINAC COUNTY, Mich. (WLUC) - A 78-year-old Cheboygan man died in a motorcycle crash on Mackinac Bridge on Saturday morning.

According to Michigan State Police St. Ignace post, the Cheboygan man was traveling northbound across the bridge when he crossed the center lane divider and hit an on-coming pickup truck.

The motorcycle driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pick-up truck was a 39-year-old man from Newberry. The Newberry man and his passengers received minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

The crashed delayed traffic on the Mackinac Bridge for at least five hours, but the bridge is back open now.

The crash is still under investigation but alcohol and speed are not believed to be factors in the crash.

Multiple departments assisted the troopers including Mackinaw City Fire Department, Mackinac City Police, and Emmet County EMS and Mackinac Bridge Authority.

The name of the motorcycle driver has not been released.
