MARINETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - A 59-year-old died Friday evening after his dump truck caught on fire in a crash.

According to Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve, Randy S. Gawryleski was driving a dump truck towing a loader on U.S. Highway 141, half a mile south of County “P”.

The initial investigation revealed that Gawryleski hit the back of a tractor towing a grain drill as both vehicles were traveling northbound.

The dump truck caught on fire and the 59-year-old man died in the burning wreckage.

Marinette Medical Examiner pronounced Gawryleski dead at the scene.

The operator of the tractor and his young male passenger were not injured.

The northbound traffic on U.S. Highway 141 was detoured for several hours during the investigation and cleanup.

The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Wisconsin State PAtrol, Crivitz and Coleman Police, Fire Departments from Pound, Grover/Porterfield, Brazeau, and Crivitz and the Marinette County Highway Department and the Medical Examiner.

The sheriff’s office says this is the third fatal crash in Marinette County in 2021.
