Two Marquette County groups need donations for ‘Jumpstart a Heart’ program

The Community Foundation of Marquette County and the Marquette County Law Enforcement Association are joining forces to raise funds for cardiac emergency equipment.

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) -The Community Foundation of Marquette County and the Marquette County Law Enforcement Association are joining forces to raise funds for cardiac emergency equipment. It’s called ‘Jumpstart a Heart.’

In 2020, Marquette County Law Enforcement responded to 46 cardiac emergency calls requesting the use of an Automated External Defibrillator or AED. That’s why the two groups are raising funds to buy new AEDs. The goal is to raise $81,454.50 to purchases new equipment for Forsyth Township Police, Negaunee City Police, Michigan State Police, Chocolay Township Police, Marquette City Police, Marquette County Sheriff’s Department, and the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team.

Anyone who would like to donate to the project can send a check to the community foundation, at Community Foundation of Marquette County, Marquette County, PO Box 37, Marquette MI, 49855.
