MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The City of Marquette is now under new management.

On June 7, Karen Kovacs took office as Marquette’s new city manager. She replaces Mike Angeli, who held the office since 2015.

Kovacs comes to Marquette from downstate Milan, where she worked as the city’s administrator. She says she’s excited to work with Marquette’s leadership to sustain and improve the city.

“What I’m passionate about is just having all the right pieces of the puzzle here and being able to see something all come together,” said Kovacs. “Marquette is a gem. Everything is just absolutely remarkable here. To be a part of something that can continue that, that’s truly why I’m passionate about this.”

Kovacs says she plans to help the City Commission carry out its current goals and plan for the future of Marquette.
