ISHPEMING, Mich. (WLUC) - There’s a new popular ‘photo op’ in downtown Ishpeming.

A set of large rainbow wings now decorates the side of Rare Earth Goods and Café.

The store owner, Pamela Perkins, painted it herself. She says the idea came from a trip to Massachusetts, where she saw wings painted on the side of a restaurant and thought ‘I can do that’.

Perkins painted her wings rainbow to match her store products and design.

She says she wants to help to bring back the life that downtown Ishpeming once had.

“Used to be years back, town was open late on Thursday nights, people came from Marquette and Negaunee, all over to shop Ishpeming on Thursday nights,” says Perkins. “We’re just trying to make Ishpeming a destination again. Like it used to be.”

The painting is open anytime for anyone to take a picture with; there is no fee.
