MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The summer season is starting off early at Presque Isle Park, as the “Island’s” scenic drive is now open.

The back loop of Peter White Drive officially opened Friday.

It was only open to foot traffic and biking over the winter.

The two-mile path takes you through thick woods and cliffside views of Lake Superior.

Your dogs can join for the ride -- as long as they stay inside your vehicle.

Be sure to prepare ahead on your trip to the “Island.”

Summer hours are 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. ET daily.

Walking hours prohibiting cars on Peter White Drive are in effect during the following days and times:

Monday and Wednesday: 6 to 8 p.m.

Tuesday and Thursday: 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday: 7 to 10 a.m.
