ISHPEMING TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) - N.I.C.E. Community Schools is looking to raise money for new equipment for its students. The district is looking to replace weight room equipment.

The Superintendent, Bryan DeAugustine says many of the weights are about 20 years old. The Westwood Patriots Booster Club is running the fundraising campaign; they’re looking to raise $20,000 this spring and summer.

“We know so much more now about strength training and its impact on fitness and being competitive in sports and just living a healthy lifestyle and this isn’t just for athletes, our gym classes use these facilities throughout the day so all our kids, athletes or just kids who want to stay healthy, it will impact a lot of kids,” DeAugustine said.

The school is hoping to have the $20,000 raised by September, but will be purchasing new equipment as the fundraising continues.
