Michigan Tech Athletics selling fan photo cutouts for games
HOUGHTON, Mich. (WLUC) - Even a few games into the season, the MacInnes Student Ice Arena being empty on a game day is not a sight you’d ever expect, but that’s the reality during the COVID-19 pandemic.
There is a way now though, to have your presence shown in the Mac and the SDC if you’re a fan. Michigan Tech is selling cardboard fan cutouts for all hockey and basketball games. For just $45, a photo of yourself will be displayed in the stands all season long.
“The fans are loving it,” said Gary Kruzich, Michigan Tech director of athletic marketing. “They saw it on TV6 when we played NMU a couple weeks ago, and they’ve also seen it on streams. So if you want to watch Huskies hockey, you can go to flosports.com and watch all the action there. People have noticed themselves in the stands there, and this past weekend, family members of players were allowed in the building and they took pictures with their own picture in the stands. So that was kind of cool.”
The funds will go towards the athletic department as they struggle with the loss of ticket sales. To purchase your cutout, click here.
