Guns, meth, equipment among items seized in Copper City drug investigation

COPPER CITY, Mich. (WLUC) - Guns, meth and drug processing equipment were among the items seized in Copper City drug investigation.

According to the Upper Peninsula Drug Enforcement Team (UPSET), detectives served a search warrant at a Copper City home Wednesday morning. Copper City is a small town north of Calumet.

UPSET said the search warrant follows a 6-month investigation into the distribution of methamphetamine and heroin in the Houghton County area.

During the search, UPSET detectives found meth, MDMA and many illegally obtained prescription drugs. Two long guns and a small amount of cash were also seized by UPSET detectives.

UPSET said scales, drug packaging and electronic devices used for drug activity were also found and seized as evidence.

No arrests have been made at this time and the investigation is ongoing.

UPSET was assisted by the Michigan State Police (MSP) Emergency Support Team, the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office and the MSP-Calumet Post and its K-9 unit.
