AMASA -- An Illinois man has been killed in a snowmobile accident in Iron County.  It happened at 1:09 p.m. Thursday off of trail 18 on the DNR Road in Amasa.

The victim is a 54-year-old man from Mokena, Illinois.  His name has not been released yet.  The Iron County Sheriff's Department says his snowmobile left the road and hit a tree.

Investigators say excessive speed appears to be a factor in the accident.
