A widespread snowfall will occur across Upper Michigan tonight.  Snow will come down at the rate of an inch an hour for a time most areas.   Look for a general 2 to 4 inches with locally higher amounts.  As low pressure moves northeast across the U.P., the snow will diminish to patchy light snow from south to north during the night.  After midnight, winds will increase out of the west to northwest over the western U.P.  That will get heavy lake-enhanced snow going, especially in the high country from Gogebic County into the Copper Country.  Over the rest of the U.P., lighter snow is expected.  By later Tuesday and Tuesday night, colder air will work across Lake Superior over the eastern portion from near Munising to northern Luce County.  Heavy snow will then begin there and continue through Wednesday.
