MARQUETTE -- A 26-year-old Marquette man was arrested last Monday, after police believe he broke into a residence on Washington St. in Marquette.

The Marquette Police Department arrested Douglas John Fitzpatrick for allegedly breaking into a home after the resident left on January 14. Police said that the investigation revealed that Fitzpatrick was told to leave as the victim was leaving his residence. When the victim returned home, he found that the home had been broken into and property was stolen.

Police say that Fitzpatrick had allegedly discussed the crime with several people before committing it. The Marquette Police Department sent a report to the Marquette County Prosecutor's Office concerning the incident. Fitzpatrick is facing one charge of second degree home invasion, which is a 15 year felony.
